Metropolitan Horsemen's AssociationWestern/English Schooling Shows: May 17th and October 5th, 2008
Sequoia Arena, 10060 Skyline Blvd., Oakland; Inside the beautiful Joaquin Miller Park
Short but sweet is what the shows were all about. The heat and high gas prices kept most riders away, but we had two great little shows! The arena is in a beautiful location and is so quiet and serene, you can't help but feel relaxed out there! Those who did attend definitely got their money's worth, riding in many classes and taking home lots of ribbons! I was very proud of those who rode my "natural" trail course! Western and English riders! It was the perfect area to ride around trees and over logs, and it was all in the Shade!! Congratulations to all the Winners!!
Classes in Halter, Showmanship, Western, Trail, and English flat

My friend recommended me to Hetty Dutra to help manage the 2006 Summer Buckle Show Series at Hossmoor. We had a three-show series of Halter, English and Western classes, with Buckles for the series end awards. Sadly, the Western division didn’t have as good a turn out as we’d hoped, but the English division did prosper. So we did two more English shows with Hunters, Equitation over fences and Hunter Hack classes added. The Back-to-School September 30, 2006 show was a huge success and the Halloween show on October 28th was fun too. Hetty and her barn crew did a wonderful job painting the jump standards to match the themes of the shows.
In 2007, Hossmoor celebrated its 10 Year Anniversary with a 5-show series (5/12, 6/16, 7/14, 8/18, 9/15) and a Year-End Awards ceremony on November 10th. Sadly, we had to cut the series short due to unfortunate circumstances, but the 3 shows that we did hold were great fun!
Hossmoor shows are famous for the signature wine glasses that are given out with the Blue ribbons and the curiously and cute painted jump standards. They are also a great place for your first English show or to compete against those in your same division. (Green, Novice, Limited, or Amateur). You could also school your horse in any class.
